Part 1 / 2 / 3  -Chris Yandek- Celebrity Journalist

Here's Part 3 of my 3 Part telephone interview with Celebrity Journalist and Wunderkind Chris Yandek. You can check out Part 1, Part 2, as well as cyinterview.com to find out more on Chris and to see and read some of his accomplishments at the young age of 23.

I know Chris is a little bit different in style compared to most people interviewed here at www.splattertribe.tv, but I really have no desire to pigeon whole any certain style or group of people here at splattertribe.tv. The fact is, there is absolutely no telling who will be featured or interviewed on here at any given time.

Music, Entertainment, Art & Life, from my point of view, covers every aspect of living. Everyone has a story to tell and I have no problems with helping them tell it and Chris has done a pretty good job of telling his. So check out this final installment as well as Part 1 & 2 and give his website a view. I'm quite sure he has interviewed someone that you would be interested in. As I said before the list of those he has interviewed reads like a primetime television award show.

Also, anytime Chris speaks of one of his interviews, in this interview, you can click the name and go straight to his interview with that person. Is that confusing? Well, you'll figure it out.

Interview with Chris Yandek

SplatterTribe: So how hands on are you on your website cyinterview.com?

Chris Yandek: I do everything. I publicize my stuff. I write my stuff. I record my stuff. I publish my stuff. I do everything. It's a one man band.

SplatterTribe: The internet media is usually more controversy based than the print media. How do you feel about the paparazzi-style media or just the paparazzi themselves?

Chris Yandek: I think the paparazzi has been around for a very long time and....they're always going to be there.

Do I think that (celebrities) deserve to have a life? As I said to Scary Spice, Melanie Brown, one of the recent interviews I did.....I was talking to her in the interview where (she said) she was trying to go somewhere, during a Christmas Holliday and there were like 30 camera's following her. She was trying to go to the store and buy some gifts, or something like that. I said, "Yeah, you're Mel B. You're (from) one of the Hottest female groups of all time. You've been on Dancing With The Stars. You're really popular right now, but you deserve to have a life too."

As far as the internet goes, you know, it disappoints me. There's alot of rumors that have become printed facts.

Do I think it's very annoying? Yes. I feel bad for a lot of those people. I mean if the paparazzi are 10, 12, 15 feet away taking pictures and it's harmless, when someone's just walking down the street. I don't think that's a big issue, but if they're in they're face and preventing someone from going where they need to go, from place to place, I think that's just ridiculous and I think there should be some legal issues regarding that.

As far as the internet goes, you know, it disappoints me. There's a lot of rumors that have become printed facts. There's a lot of online outlets that print hearsay things. What's disappointing is that Newspapers are running these things. Even if they are running them as gossip, they're still running them. I mean The New York Post's Page Six has a way of doing it, in a way that they cover they're ass. They probably cover what they are looking into. I can't speak for them 100% but, they print a lot of facts, mostly. I mean, there's some hearsay and maybe some things aren't true, but they usually mark it as gossip. So we know what we are getting.

The problem is that much of the regular news media, they don't wait to get all of the facts anymore. That's the problem. We don't wait to get all the facts anymore. We want it 'now' instead of 'right'.

Hollywood director Rod Lurie and I discussed (it) in our interview last year........He directed Nothing But The Truth, which was just out with Kate Beckinsale and before that Resurrecting A Champ with Samuel L Jackson.

I mean, it disappoints me, but at the same time that's just the industry. This is the democracy we live in. You gotta hope that people are going to believe to look past it. That people are able to look past Gossip Mills.

I think if you are a celebrity you just have to not care because you know what's true and what is not true at the end of the day and that is all that matters.

Kathleen Turner said to me....You've got to weigh what really matters, whether it truly affects your life or not and I think that what you totally have to look into.

SplatterTribe: As long as people are out there who read the gossip style 'facts' than there's really going to be no change. It's the people that feed that mentality.

Chris Yandek: Oh, Absolutely. We're a Celebrity driven culture. Absolutely.

SplatterTribe: Ok define the following words.

Music:

Chris Yandek: .....It means something different to everybody. It's part of our daily lives. It represents us as a culture and a society. That's it, I think.

Entertainment:

Chris Yandek: It's so broad. It could mean so many different things to so many people. (It's) a big part of our lives. It defines us in our everyday. It define our social life, our cultural life and again, how we live our life. It consumes us more, I think than anything else. Jesse Ventura, former wrestler, former Governor of Minnesota, of course, he said to me, the most important thing in our life now, as an individual is how do I entertain myself for those hours of the day that I am not working. You know, I think that, pretty much, sums it up. That is a really big part of our lives. Some of us, like me, are living that life 24/7 being part of that industry. I think it's defined our lives more than anything as time goes on.

Art:

Chris Yandek: I think an Art is something that you have to be passionate about. It's something that you have to develop for yourself. It symbolizes who we are. It represents the feelings, the emotions, and the passions that we have for life. I think a lot of people have problems finding their art.

Life:

Chris Yandek: Life.........You know, one of my good friends in the industry said something interesting today. He said it's as simple as two words, "Do Something." What he meant by that, I think was and what I try to live my life by everyday is the following. Life is being about you being able to find what you want most out of life, the dreams that you believe in. Making those dreams happen. Making your goals happen. You know, to me that is what life is about. Going out there and doing what you want to do. Not being scared to try things, to try and open yourself up to people because so many people have that problem. People are not able to find themselves. They are not able to discover what really matters and I think that's the problem we have with society. To me, life is about going out there and doing what you want to do, and so many people, I think, have a problem with doing that. You know, with that being said, that to me, is what life is all about. To go out there everyday, live life to the fullest, find the things you want to do, take chances. Results are not always going to be positive, but live with those failures and learn from them.

I think a lot of people have problems finding their art.

SplatterTribe: So what is success to you?

Chris Yandek: Being able to do the things I want to do in life. Being able to do the things I love. Being able to do things that not everybody is able to do. Being able to give something to the world. Being able to do things in a way nobody else is able to do them. Living my dream. Setting a goal and achieving it.

SplatterTribe: You said you before that you are more 'in the now' as opposed to the past, what about the future. Do you have goals you are striving for, maybe not in the immediate future, but in the future? What are you striving for?

Chris Yandek: Just to be the best. To be the best. Go down as one of the best journalists

in history. Go down as one of the best broadcasters in history. (To Be) able to get to a National platform and share my experiences, interviews, stories with people every single day. Being able to be a role model everyday for people and setting an example that you can achieve a goal at a young age. You don't have to wait till you graduate college to start trying to achieve a goal. Some people don't realize that they can do things earlier in life than they imagined it. You're never to young and your not to old. Well, obviously you have to be able to use a computer. You're never to old to do something. I think that's the example I get from Earnest Borgnine more than anything. (He's) 91 years old and has 200 different picture under his belt and he's still making them at 91 years old. He's still acting and filming things. I think that say's a heck of a lot about this world. That you're never to old to do something. I just want to be the best. I want to show the world what I can do. Hopefully somebody takes something away from all the people I've come across and what I've learned. I think that's my biggest goal for life. I believe there's nothing that is unattainable. I believe that anything is possible.

I appreciate all of the support and all of the compliments I have gotten over the years and all of the recognition because that's really where it all started.

SplatterTribe: You've got to be a workaholic.......

Chris Yandek: Uhm yeah. I wouldn't call myself a workaholic but I would definitely say that 80% of my life is work, 20% of my life is play.

SplatterTribe: So what do you do to unwind? To get away from it?

Chris Yandek: Well I mean.......Unwind? (laughs) That's a great question.......Unwind? Watch movies. Set back in my bed and read a book. I mean......talk with friends. Hang out and socialize. Talk with the people that matter to me. You know, just stuff like that. Play Golf, golfing is like that sometimes. I mean......set back and watch a sporting event. Watch a football game. To me that's unwinding. (laughs) I mean, you know, I don't unwind enough. I know this.

I've got a friend in the industry and they work constantly. You know, touring, one project from another and I always tell them, "you need some time off. You need some time for yourself" and I think I'm a workaholic, you know. That's what normal fans don't understand about the world of celebrity culture is most of the time many of these people are working constantly. Many of them think, "well, they go and they shoot a movie for three months and they're off 9 months at home with their family doing what the hell they want. It really isn't like that at all. Many of these people are working constantly between balancing that and dealing with the media and all of this other stuff.

I think you have to be a workaholic if you want to be a part of this industry. I think that's just how it is.

Do I have a chance to balance myself out very often? Yeah, I do. I wouldn't say that I'm over stressed, but there's definitely some stress there. I've been able to deal with it. I try and keep myself in shape. I try to eat the right things and do the right things from a health standpoint.

SplatterTribe: Getting into some of the things you said you do to unwind. What kind of movies interest you?

I'll watch anything. I'm an open minded individual. That's part of my life.

SplatterTribe: Is that part of your research for interviews?

I don't know if I'd call it part of my research, but hey, we're always researching something if you're part of this industry. I watch movies to watch movies, but obviously you're watching while you're learning things about these people. You're obviously paying attention to the personalities on the screen because you're probably gonna come across someone, of course. I call it research and fun at the same time, I suppose.

SplatterTribe: What about sports? What kind of sports do you get into?

I'm a big college football fan. I love college football more than anything in the world, as far as sports go. I'll watch anything. Again (I'm) an open minded individual. I'm a well rounded person. I think the greatest thing in life is you have to be well rounded. The point is, you have to learn about other people or about other cultures.....I think that's the most important thing you can do in life.

You know, football, basketball, golf, whatever. That's how it is.

SplatterTribe: Ok, each interview I do I ask for a question to ask a future interviewee. This question comes from Comedian Tim Northern and his question is, "What size of tires do you have on your car?"

(laughs) I could tell you something....I'll tell you one thing and this is what I'll say. I have a '99 Acura. I love (it). It's a great car. It's still in great condition. Uhm......I can tell you for a fact, I don't know what tires I have. I don't know what rims I have, but I tell you I have a car. It's an Acura (laughs). (I'm) not a big car guy to say the least. All I can tell you is the ones that came with the car.

SplatterTribe: So do you have a good, random question for me to ask a future interviewee?

Sure. Why don't you ask your next person what gets them up everyday? What are they most passionate about?

SplatterTribe: Well, Chris thanks for doing the interview with us and the last question is....Any closing comments concerning anything?

Well, I always tell people to stay tuned to cyinterview.com. Check out what I'm doing. I feature 1 or 2 celebrity interviews a week. My whole, you know, through all of the people that I've had a chance to speak to, (there's) one story I didnt get to mention earlier. A few years ago, I got a chance to speak to Robin Roberts of Good Morning America, who has been a great supporter of my career. After we did the interview, she was doing a press core for her book From The Heart : Seven Rules To Live By, she told me after the interview how she had done interviews with major media figures, satellite, television interviews, whatever you want to call them, major media figures, and it was obvious (with) the questions they were asking her, that they hadn't read the book. She could tell that I actually spent time to read the book and do the research and she said the most important thing I did with her is that I actually listened to what she was saying. She said that's a big problem with the industry. So I started a question, I said to her, "What do you think my chances are of making it in this industry?" She cut me off saying, "I have no doubt that you're going to make it." It was one of the most important days in my entire life. I'm never going to forget April 11, 2007 because that was the day that once and for all symbolized the fact that I'm supposed to be part of this industry, in one way or another. I will be doing this for the rest of my life and I have her to thank for that.

You know, I just want to be an inspiration. I want to go to the top. I want to achieve what I'm supposed to achieve and hopefully some people learn from me that hard work and dedication are how you make it in this world. No one is gonna do it for you, I think that's the most important thing that I hope someone takes from me. That you, sooner than later it's gonna be up to you to decide whether you make it or you break it.
