Interview with Miss
April 2010, Julie Anne |
SplatterTribe:
Introduce yourself & compare yourself
to something you would find in the
medicine aisle of a store.
Julie
Anne:
Hi, I’m
Julie
Anne,
and I'd
like to
think
that I’m
like
those
sour
lemon
cough
drops.
Cause
they
taste
really
good,
but
they’re
also
medicine
(so you
probably
shouldn’t
be
taking
them
unless
your
throat
is
sore).
I’d like
to
compare
myself
to
something
tasty
yet
helpful…yeah.
SplatterTribe:
For
anyone
who has
no idea
who you
may be,
please
enlighten
them.
Julie Anne:
Well, I’m just me. I don’t really know how to explain myself without sounding like an ass. So I like to act, and I’m lucky enough to be able to do so. I’m also a huge
horror fan, so that’s the genre I prefer to seek out roles within. I’ve done about 20 films, some
TV work, and I started out as an alternative model.

SplatterTribe:
Tell us about your tattoo's... What they are... Who did them... What are your plans for more??
Julie Anne:
I got my first tattoo when I was 15, at a nudist resort with a fake id. It’s my Bettie Page, on the center of my upper back. I got her because she stood for strength, femininty, and power. These were all things I hoped to pick up along the road of life.
I was planning on continuing my biomechanical tribal design on my upper left arm, and turning it into a half sleeve, but I decided to cover it up as I got older.
The tiki 's are actually based off of the theater masks, comedy and tragedy. I got them when I did my first feature “Teen Zombies in Love”. We were filming at this place called the Tahitian Inn, so the idea to make the masks some sort of tropical item came to mind. I wanted to get them to symbolize my first lead role, and how I felt that I had finally found what I wanted to do to express myself, and contribute artistically. Me being a horror fan decided to make them be “maniacal and frightened” instead of happy and sad.
The wave above my tiki 's is just part of the cover up on my tribal design. I am planning on turning that into a tropical themed sleeve.
The pin up on my right arm is part of a sleeve I am planning out. It’s a tribute to Vegas, which is the happiest place on earth as far as I am concerned. I am completely in love with Vegas, in fact I even got married there. On a Harley, at 3am, in the drive through, with Elvis. A homeless man and a bum were our witnesses.
The Lions on my back are to show my pride for being a Leo.
SplatterTribe:
Tell us a little about the films you have been involved with.
Julie Anne:
I
absolutely love every film that I have been a part of. I try
very hard to only get involved with films that I would watch
as a fan. They all have brought me many great stories,
friends, and experiences.
*Night Scream (on the Slices anthology), was the first role I ever had. I was turned down at first when I sent over my headshot and resume, because I had no previous acting experience. But the director was friends with Lloyd Kaufman from Troma, and Lloyd gave me a good reference because I had been a
Tromette at the conventions in Orlando for a couple of years. So last minute I ended up getting a role after all. Debbie Rochon was also friends with the director of Night Scream, and she came out to help sort of be a coach for us all. It was amazing to have her there, and she was so helpful and encouraging to us all. So for my first acting experience it was truly a very incredible experience!
*Teen Zombies was the next film, and I actually got the lead role on the first try. It was a very long shoot, completely different from the Night Scream shoot, but it really gave me a chance to go all out, and really decide if acting was something I wanted to pursue, and also if it was something that I would be able to do. I feel that I completely fell for acting during the filming of this movie.
* I went on to film Dead End after that, and I got to work with Debbie Rochon again, as well as Linnea Quigley, who had also been a huge inspiration to me growing up. It was so amazing to be on set with both of them, I felt truly honored.
*Last year I got to work with two more of my childhood hero's, this time it was two directors. I had a couple of cameos in The Uh Oh Show, directed by Herschell Gordon Lewis, and I did a scene in that one along side Lloyd Kaufman. That was a dream come true, and it really made me feel incredibly lucky. That whole film was just hilarious, and I can’t wait to see how it turned out.
*Last year I was also given my most challenging role in Caisson film’s Spare the Rod. It consisted of me mainly talking to myself, when not being chased by a little ghost girl. I like to talk to myself on my own time, but to do it in front of cameras was a bit awkward! I got to use squibs for the first time too. I just love anything involving stunts, and gore, and I try to get as messy and beat up as possible. This was a great opportunity to do all of the above!
* I got to work with another amazing director last year as well, who I had admired for a long time, Steven Shea! I was part of his short film 2:22, which has won awards all over the place. Mostly due to it’s fantastic lead Tara Lightfoot. This film is so powerful and beautiful yet shocking. You just have to check it out. It premiered over in Spain during the SITGES film festival. That alone was just insane to be associated with.
*Another film that I am especially proud of is Wayward. I was able to get my whole family involved in that one. It was extremely special for me to have them there, especially my husband and his band The Cowboy Mafia! They got to see how the film is created, how time consuming, and tedious it is. But they also got to see the end result, and how thrilling it is to see what all of the hard work and time turned into!
*This year has started off insanely amazing. I did As Night Falls, by yet another outstanding director who I love, Joe Davison. Debbie Rochon was in it, as well as the lovely Raine Brown, and one of my favorite girls ever Deneen Melody. Debbie actually kills me in this one! That was one of the most professional and just mind blowing films I have had the privilege of being a part of.
SplatterTribe:
If someone was going to make a collectible toy of you,
would you want it to be Barbie Doll Style, Voodoo Doll
Style, Porcelain Doll Style, Raggedy Anne Style, Blow Up
Doll Style or Statue Collectors Style? Also what would it be
wearing and what accessories would come with it?
Julie Anne:
I’d like to have a
Barbie robot action figure. Although people have thought that I was actually a “realdoll” before, no joke.

SplatterTribe: Define these words as they pertain to you...
Julie Anne:
--Music--
Gets mixed with my emotions. It can make me feel better, it can make me remember a certain time in my life. I’m attracted to it, and it drives me. Music is like a lover.
--Entertainment--
What I love to do. It’s my expression. It’s performance and what I want to show.
--Art--
Art is writing. It’s my thoughts, not my actions. It’s how I get my life out and what I have experienced. It’s what I want others to imagine for themselves.
--Life--
This is of the highest importance. What I really mean and will leave behind. It’s a contribution, and it’s meant more for others and what you can do for them. Life as a whole is not your own.

SplatterTribe: Make one combined sentence out of the following words or phrases.
--Primal--
--Horror--
--Splattered--
--Doll--
--Chuck Taylor's--
--Apple Jacks--
Julie Anne:
Chuck Taylor’s primal horror doll splattered apple jacks.
(Tribe Note: Doh! That was to easy...)
SplatterTribe:
When you wake up today (or whenever you last woke up!) how did the first hour of your day go?
Julie Anne:
I wanted to stay in bed. I got up, I hated traffic, listened to music. Got to work, had coffee, read my messages.
SplatterTribe:
How does the last hour of your day usually go?
Julie Anne:
I watch
Adult
Swim with Frank. I love Robot Chicken. If I am away from home I like to listen to music when I go to sleep.
SplatterTribe:
What comes to mind when you hear the word SplatterTribe?
Julie Anne:
Tiki's covered in brain chunks.
(Tribe Note: Got Violent
Thoughts?)
SplatterTribe:
I ask every 'Miss' if they have a good, random question to ask the next 'Miss', so this question comes from
Miss March Haley T and her question is...
--What is your secret weapon to lure in the opposite sex?—
Julie Anne:
I am terrible with guys. I’m so unobservant and awkward. I can’t imagine anyone being attracted to me,
especially if they end up trying to talk to me. So I would say if I had a weapon to lure them it would be not speaking. The “idea” of who I am is probably a lot more interesting, and way hotter!
|
SplatterTribe:
Do
you have a good, random question for the next Miss?
Julie Anne:
What made you want to entertain?
SplatterTribe:
Do you
have a question you would like to ask me? |

|
Julie Anne:
What is your favorite scary movie (har har har)? But really, what is it?
(Tribe Note: The next one
I watch with SplatterTribe.TV's Miss April Julie Anne in
it!)
SplatterTribe:
Do you believe........ (explain if possible)
--in ghosts?
--in UFOs?
--in conspiracy theories?
--in Sasquatch?
--in Zombies
--that the world will end in 2012?
--in 2nd chances?
--in miracles?
--in magic?
--in Karma?
--that we landed on the moon?
Julie Anne:
--in reincarnation?
(Tribe Note: Uhmmmmm... I'm
confused... Did I ask you a question or are you
asking me a question? Now my brain hurts...)
SplatterTribe:
What the 3 most annoying things in the world to you?
Julie Anne:
1) Pretentious/Phony people.
2) Insecurity, which is something I deal with at times as well.
3) Mosquitoes.
|

|
SplatterTribe: What is something you have always wanted to say?
Julie Anne: I usually try to say whatever I want to say.
|
SplatterTribe:
What is the last thing that pissed you off?
Julie Anne:
The phone. I’m at my day job. Yay!
(Tribe Note:
Yeah, I
don't care
if it's part
of your job
description
or not,
you should
not be
expected to
answer
phone's
while doing
a
Splattered
Q & A!
RIDICULOUS,
I say!
REDICULOUS!)
SplatterTribe:
Songwriting time! I wrote 2 lines to a
verse and then the last 4 'Miss's' added 2 lines each. It's your turn to add 2
more! It could be Chorus time...
Me:
Anymore I don't care if these walls fall down
I'll just dig a rut and live in the ground
Roni
Jonah:
Be the ruler of my underground town
Sex and Violence, spread it around
Chromegirl: I will make sense of these things I've found
Living, Breathing, disappearing into the sound
Danielle: A fallen angel: broken, tattered and torn
Savior of those who should have never been born
Haley T:
A lifeless decision of all they could be,
feeling as if they've been cast out to sea
Your Turn:
Julie Anne:
Never give up, never give in
Life’s full of choices, decide if you win
SplatterTribe: Now that you are SplatterTribe.TV's Miss April, what are you going to do next?
Julie Anne:
I’m going to Disney! Actually I am going to drive past Disney. I’m filming a new feature down in Melbourne Florida this month. It’s called “Night People”.
SplatterTribe: Any closing comments concerning anything you want said, known, printed or shown?
Julie Anne: Just thank you very much for having me! I plan on continuing to act, and I hope to have my own screenplays completed within the next few years. I would love to get more involved with the production side, and I hope to bring some of my own visions to life.
