One Man Gang

The Splattered!@%#! Q & A

WEEK 4 - 01/25/2010 - One Man Gang

Former WWF, WCW, ECW, Classic Territory & Independent Professional Wrestler known famously as the One Man Gang as well as his alter ego Akeem-The African Dream is now Splattered@%#!!

This weeks Splattered@%# Q & A is with Professional Wrestling Veteran the legendary One Man Gang! Gang wrestled in the old school territories before becoming one of the originals in the Vince McMahon WWF take over of Pro Wrestling. The Gang was there in those early years taking on the likes of Hulk Hogan, 'Macho Man' Randy Savage and more before undergoing a transformation, like no other, into Akeem-The African Dream. Yes, the One Man Gang was the African Dream. He later parted ways with the WWF and his longtime manager Slick, the Jive Soul Bro himself and spent time in WCW and the ECW. Now Gang occasionally shows up at conventions and still occasionally laces up the ole' wrestling boots in the independents.

I want to apologize in advance to you, the SplatterTribe Nation, for the lack of professionalism that I show during this Q & A. I am very upset with myself but the Gang had it comin'! You can only take so much disrespect before you have to reintroduce Respect back into the situation, you know???! Watch Your Back Gang.....Watch Your Back................

The Splattered!@%#! Q & A with One Man Gang

SplatterTribe: Introduce yourself and compare yourself to some sort of animal species (seriously!) and explain why the comparison.

One Man Gang:

"Hello everyone  I'm  the  One Man Gang / Akeem ... I  would  compare  myself  to  a  bear .. I'm  big  and  hairy  also  when  it's  cold  I  like  to  hibernate ..though not in a cave .. but I do like fish" .

One Man Gang & Slick - WWF

SplatterTribe: For anyone who may not know who you are can you give a little history lesson?

One Man Gang:

"First off everyone knows The Gang..ha,ha JK ..  I've been in the great crazy world of professional wrestling since 1976..you do the math!"

I wrestled under quite a few names..Big George (My real first name. Not the 'Big' part, the other) Crusher Broomfield, Panama Gang, One Man Gang, Akeem The African Dream, I think that about does it" .

SplatterTribe: OK, I have to ask this one. What was it like portraying a white African American for awhile in the WWF? How did that gimmick come about and what was your initial thought about the whole Akeem 'The African Dream' idea?

One Man Gang:

The storyline was that Slick & myself found my roots and they were from deepest darkest Africa . Being Akeem was a blast, just getting to be so silly
with the character. (It was) totally opposite from The Gang who was always a kickass serious heel all the time. (I) got to have some fun and let go .

I'm not sure how it came about, of course, from Vince (McMahon). We were doing TV tapings some where in NY and Vince walked over to me and said, "George", he always called me George never Gang, "do you know how to dance?" ... Well, of course, I said, "no I don't" ... (Then) Vince tells me I better learn ... I don't have a clue (what he's talking about).

Later that night Slick then tells me about the idea of me becoming Akeem from Deepest, Darkest Africa ... I really thought they were ribbing me .. but low and behold a week later I was called at home for a costume fitting in NY for my Akeem ring costume..

My first thoughts were I hated it .. but when Vince, in so many words, told me he has a spot in the WWF for Akeem but not for One Man Gang, I thought it was the greatest thing ever.. Vince said the Gang character was boring. He wanted a character with some color ... So I took it and ran with it ...Hey, it could have been worse, you remember Terry Taylor as The Red Rooster / or Tony Atlas as Saba Simba? ..I came out pretty good.

SplatterTribe: How did you originally become the One Man Gang?

One Man Gang:

The name was pinned on me in Mid-South Wrestling, run by Cowboy Bill Watts ..

I was working for ICW (International Champ Wrestling) in Kentucky, ran by the Poffo's, as Crusher Broomfield .. The Big Cat Ernie Ladd came in and worked me in some matches (in the ICW) .. Ernie Ladd was working for Bill Watts. He went back and told Bill about me.

Bill contacted the Poffo's. I was sent to Mid-South ..

They would bring me into a house show, like Baton Rouge, LA , then New Orleans , then Shreveport, I would arrive after the show had begun .. during the main event I would do a run in and jump the baby - face, whoever it was .. Dusty Rhodes , Dick Murdoch.......

I wood Pearl Harbor them, then give them the 747 splash. They wood be stretchered out .. all this was being filmed .. (Then) they would show it on TV and Boyd PierceBill Watts would be saying, "Who is this monster Skandor Akbar ( my manager) has found?" .. So, after a few weeks, they put it all together in one long segment for TV ..  During the commentary, (I'm) not sure who said it, but it came out as.. He's a one man gang .. and that was the name I kept all this time ..

Yeah, I know (it's) not what you expected, but that's the story.

SplatterTribe:  Name association time. I say the name and you say what comes to mind.

Big Boss Man, Slick & Akeem 'The African Dream' known as the 'Twin Towers', WWF

One Man Gang:

Randy Savage - lay off the caffeine ... Ohhhh Yea snap into a Slim Jim !!

Bill Dundee - who ??
(Tribe Note: Ohhhh, tryin' to start up something now! *LINK!*)

Hulk Hogan - Hulk up .. block my punches  .. off the ropes into the Hogan boot .. Then the Hogan leg drop... 1,2,3 ... get paid a lot of money !

Slick - Jive Soul Bro' (super nice guy) who taught me to dance

Big Boss Man - 1/2 of The Twin Towers

Bam Bam Bigelow - wish I could have done a cart wheel like Bigelow ... really great talent and all around good guy !

Gene Okerlund - the voice of WWF - should have invested like Gene advised me to ..

Vince McMahon - the BOSS ! ... Mr. McMahon

SplatterTribe: How do you define the following words?

One Man Gang:

Music - anything that rocks! or anything to do with female nudity
Entertainment - a good midget circus, I guess now I have to say little people circus (Tribe Note: Not if your talkin' to SplatterTribe's Miss November 2009, Kat The Midget Entertainer!) ..or anything to do with female nudity... .
Art - anything to do with female nudity...
Life - Live it to the fullest and go after your dreams !! or anything to do with female nudity...

SplatterTribe:  Do you watch wrestling today and what do you think about TNA giving WWE some competition?

One Man Gang:

Never WWE ... every once in awhile TNA .. I think it's a good thing (TNA competition to WWE). WWE has had a monopoly for a good while ..give the fans a choice again. Let them choose ...

Until Vince buys TNA also! You know it will happen!

......and if any body from TNA reads this The Gang is available .

SplatterTribe: Make one combined sentence out of the following random words.

Gang
Quarter
Splattered
Tattoo
Lighter
Paper Clip

One Man Gang:

The "Lighter" side of the "Gang" flipped a "Quarter", it landed on a "Paperclip", to decide what kind of "Tattoo" to get "Splattered" on his body .

SplatterTribe: What comes to mind when you hear the word SplatterTribe?

One Man Gang:

A tribe that splatters .. but splatters what? That is the secret question?

(Tribe Note: Indeed it is the question......... Indeed it is...........)

SplatterTribe: Would the One Man Gang join a faction called The SplatterTribe?

One Man Gang:

Buy me a few dozen drinks and a couple hookers, maybe we can talk about it!

SplatterTribe:  Finish the following sentences for me....

Gang, Sabu, ECW

One Man Gang:
If you don't like George Gray you can
...........who is that ??

If you don't like the One Man Gang you can
.......everybody likes The Gang .. next question....

I cannot stand
........getting a popcorn kernal stuck on the little punching bag looking thingy in my throat ! KA,KA,KA ...

There's nothing cooler than
.......being The One Man Gang .. except maybe..... hmmm no nothing cooler!

If I wasn't doing this interview right now, I would be
.........passed out  with a bunch of naked ladies thanks a lot SplatterTribe!

One Man Gang:

Here's one I go by : " I never had a policy; I have just tried to do my very best each and every day".  ~Abraham Lincoln

SplatterTribe: I ask everyone I interview for a question to ask a future interviewee. The question can be serious or tongue in cheek. Whatever comes to mind. This question comes from Tyler Coe, son and guitar player for Country Music Legend David Allen Coe and his question is....

----What's the scariest nightmare you've ever had?---

One Man Gang:

being asked what's the scariest nightmare you've ever had..

(l-r) Demolition Ax, One Man Gang, Some Dude & Demolition Smash (circa 2009)

No really, I do have a dream about the bell ringing for me to go to the ring I'm looking every where for my wrestling gear but can never find it. The bell keeps on ringing and they are yelling, "Gang you're on .. you're on .. GO .. GO ..!!"  ....  (and) I'm still searching for my gear .

SplatterTribe: Do you have a good, random question I can ask a future interviewee?

One Man Gang:

When you are laid to rest how do you want to be dressed for your last ride ?

SplatterTribe:
Do you have a question you would like to ask me?

One Man Gang:

Who the heck are you ?? & How much are you paying me for this interview !

(Tribe Note: My name is Primal "The SplatterTribe Lucha Luiebre", hailing from 'Parts Unknown'! And as far as how much I'm paying you for this interview?

You should be happy I'm even paying attention to this stinking Interview!

As a matter of fact, if this wasn't an email interview, I'd get right up, RIGHT NOW and give you a crash course in just who the Hell I am, just for questioning me and making me waste my time coming up with this piece of garbage Q & A!!! Let me tell you something else....Mr. Gang...., back in Question 10, I asked, "Would the One Man Gang join a faction called The SplatterTribe?" and you answered..."Buy me a few dozen drinks and a couple hookers maybe we can talk about it!"

Big Man........when an Elite Group like The SplatterTribe asks you to join their organization........, it's a Yes or No question..........And Hesitations and No's....Well, they just ain't accepted........You understand what I am saying?

Watch your back Gang!.............Watch Your Back!.......)

One Man Gang:

WCW -
Lost In Space .... " Danger Will Robinson"

ECW -
First Blood every night !!

SplatterTribe: Songwriting time, I wrote 2 lines of a verse and then Athena Lee Kottak (Drummer of the band Kottak, sister of Tommy Lee of Motley Crue & wife of James Kottak of The Scorpions) wrote 2 more. She did take the song in it's own direction, but I need you to write 2 more. Here's the song

ME: I see cracks in the walls
And cracks in the ceiling

Athena: I see a "crack head" on the corner
And another in the park!

One Man Gang:

I'M A WRESTLER NOT A SONGWRITER !! ok ..
divulge
YOU: I throw up my life all over my feet !
hell I just bought these shoes what a drag !

SplatterTribe: Any closing comments concerning anything you want said, known printed or shown?
