SplatterTribe:
Introduce yourself to the Tribe and
compare yourself to some sort of weapon
used in a horror movie and explain why
the comparison?
Roni Jonah:
I'm
Roni. I'm scary, but fun. I'm a
chainsaw. It's intimate. Dirty. It shows
you can improvise.
SplatterTribe: For anyone who has no idea who Roni Jonah is, please explain.
Roni Jonah:
I'm a film maker. Writer, director, spfx
artist, wrestler, seamstress, and all
around eccentric bitch.
SplatterTribe:
Ok, let's start
with the wrestling, how did you get
started in it and what's been the
highlights so far? |
 |
Roni Jonah:
After college I decided to just go do
something fun. My best friend said I was athletic
and entertaining I should try professional
wrestling. No, I never watched it growing up. Didn't
want to be one my whole life. Just looked fun. So, I
moved to Louisville. And it was fun. I tore out my
ACL during my first couple of practices. After it
healed I got pulled onto OVW TV in an angle
with The Miz. That lasted about 6 months.
After that I traveled a bit wrestling as "Rockstar"
Roni Jonah, wearing a gold Elvis Suit
that I made and carrying with me a red glittery
guitar. My partner, Cyndi Bobcat, and I still
have the WEW (Women's Extreme Wrestling) tag
team belts. (Although, I haven't wrestled in a year)
Good times.
SplatterTribe:
OK,
I know you have a history with The Miz, What was
that about and how long does it usually take someone
to get annoyed after they start talking to him?
Roni Jonah:
But, back to The Miz. Don't
tell anyone, but The Miz is actually a cool
dude. I didn't know who he was before I met him,
honestly. But, those were good times! We played a
dirty couple tag team. Our entrance was to make out
really obnoxiously. Don't be jealous.
SplatterTribe:
OK,
you are a hot female wrestler. I'm an average male
non-wrestler. Do you think there is any kind of move
you could put on me that I wouldn't enjoy just a
little???? I mean........really......?
Roni Jonah:
No.
SplatterTribe:
You
also have designed wrestling gear for fellow female
wrestlers and yourself, tell us about that and do
you still design clothing?
Roni Jonah:
I learned to sew as a means to an end.
There was a market for costumes, I learned to
financially capitalize. I still take orders from
time to time, but it's definitely not my main
passion. I do it for myself and friends and film
now.

SplatterTribe: Make one sentence out of the following words or phrases....
Stage Dive
Splatter
Feathered
plastic cup
pencil
nickel |
Roni Jonah: The
pencil asked me to stage dive so I
splattered a feathered nickel into
his plastic cup.
SplatterTribe:
Complete
the following sentence...
If You don't like Roni Jonah you can...............
Roni Jonah:
...be completely free to have that
opinion. It doesn't change my life at all.
SplatterTribe:
We
have a feature on our message board called The
SplatterTribe Proverb of The Week. Some Previous
Proverbs have been 'You can't tell shit not to
stink' and 'If it ain't broke you haven't used it
enough', stuff like that. What I am wondering is if
you have any 'proverbs' we can use for upcoming
Prov's Of The Week? You can come up with something!
Roni Jonah: I
often loosely quote 'The Guru' in 'Mantra'
by saying "All is suffering" or "Things aren't
always as they appear to be. Nor are they
otherwise".
SplatterTribe:
Tell
us about your transition to film making & How much
of your time is being devoted to doing movies?
Roni Jonah:
Well...the fun of wrestling started to
wear off and I was pondering what I wanted to do
next. By chance I was in Philadelphia at Monster
Mania and this woman came out of nowhere, drug
me upstairs, and told me to audition for one of the
upcoming '8 Films to Die For'. A month later
I got my audition emailed to me and explained that I
was in a contest where you win based on votes. I
came in second and was flown to LA to do a screen
test. There I met JASON CROWE! An Independent
film maker also living in Louisville. He knew who I
was from wrestling and I knew who he was from his
staring role in 'Dead Moon Rising'. Despite
our efforts we only came in third place when they
were only taking the top 2 men and women. But, that
was only the beginning. Him and his best friend
TJ Moreschi had a film company and were sitting
on some brilliant ideas. With our combined talents,
Jason's connections and my relentless
motivation we made our first feature 'The Legacy',
due out in February nationwide. From there we
haven't stopped since. We've filmed our second
feature 'Hell House' and we've since expanded
to include a myriad of other people who are all
writing their own films that we will make. And not
just us, but everyone in the community has a project
and we all work together to bring everyone's art to
life. So, yeah, I guess we stay insanely busy.
SplatterTribe:
What
is the most awesome scene you have been apart of so
far?
Roni Jonah: Just
recently I was involved in Billy Boyd's movie
called 'Steampunk'. I was in a group fight
scene where I got to do some really fun stunts
dressed in 'Steam Punk' gimmick. Of course
playing a mannequin turned vampire, killed with
Dildos in 'Little Sex Shop of Horrors' was
awesome too.
SplatterTribe: If there was a movie entitled the SplatterTribe, what do you think it would be about? What comes to mind?
|
Roni Jonah: A bunch of hot
chicks who throw pies at each other. Naked.
Then they make out.
SplatterTribe: I ask everyone I interview if they have a question I can ask the next person I interview. So this next question is from SplatterTribe's Miss November Kat The Midget Entertainer. The question can be about anything but Kat's is pretty cut and dried. Her question is,
"Mine's Doggy,
What's your favorite position?"
Roni Jonah:
The Mongolian Wompstomper |
|
SplatterTribe:
Do
you have a good random question I can ask the next
person I interview?
Roni Jonah: What is your
underwear situation?
SplatterTribe:
Do
you have a question you would like to ask me?
beside's "when is this interview gonna be up?"
Roni Jonah:
What's love got to do? Got to
do with it?
SplatterTribe:
If
you where going to have your own Musicians Hall Of
Fame (Individuals, not bands) who would be your
first 5 nominees?
Roni Jonah:
Grace Jones, Freddie Murcury, Madonna,
Prince, David Bowie.
SplatterTribe:
OK
time to check out your writing skills. I'll write a
verse and then you write a verse to go with it. Then
we'll have 2 verses for a song!
Anymore I don't care
If these walls fall down
I'll just dig a rut
and live in the ground
Roni Jonah:
Be the ruler of my underground town
Sex and violence, spread it all around.

SplatterTribe:
Any closing
comments concerning anything you want said,
known, printed or shown?
Roni Jonah:
Look for 'The Legacy' on worldwide DVD release early next year. Staring myself, Jason Crowe, TJ Morecshi, Al Snow, Cyndi Bobcat, Nathan Day and several others.
It will be a double
feature with the first film I |
wrote and
directed called 'Trepan'.'Trepan'
is also part of a collaboration DVD of short horror
films, called 'Kentucky Fried Horror'.
'Kentucky Fried Horror' is the project of
Emily Westley and Cory Stringer. I'm also
the horror host of that DVD.
'Hell House', our
current work, in post production, should also be out
early next year. 'Hell House' brings back all
of those people plus a myriad of indie stars: Jim
O Rear, Daniel Emry Taylor, April
Hunter, Stacy Dixon, to name a few.
Currently I'm writing the next
big thing, 'Lesferatu'. Lesbian Chainsaw
Vampires. (Imagine Dracula in
Wonderland). Everyone, and I do mean everyone,
will make an appearance in that one. That's in pre
production and will be ready to film, also, early
next year.
Dale Miller and TJ
Morecshi, other members of 'Feathered
Italian Films', are writing a feature, and
Jason Crowe is writing another one, as well.
So, we have our year filled up
already. Check out: 'Steampunk'. Billy
Boyd is a genius. I'm fortunate to have him and
his brain designing the sets and props for 'Lesferatu'.
Claude Miles' 'The Way
Station'. Where I actually played a Native
American Indian. Claude has made several
shorts and is a lot of the creative team for 'Lesferatu'.
He's hosting a mini film
festival Dec 12. All of the stuff myself and
Jason made will be played there along with many
others including Eric Butts with his film
'Zeppo'. Eric is also a brilliant
musician and will be part of the elaborate music
team for 'Lesferatu'. He also made the epic
'Roni Jonah Show', which you can see at the
film fest. Jerry Williams, creative
mastermind, will also be showing his work at the
fest. I think we'll be watching 'Saucer Sex from
Beyond'. It's awesome.
I worked on Special effects on
Jacob Ennis' 'Red River'. There I met, got to
work with and absorb knowledge from, three amazing
makeup artists: Sven Granlund, Dave
Workeman, and Matt Perry. Look for the
trailer called "Nin9 Lives" with myself,
Mike Shouse, Tony Calhoun, Al Snow,
Ben Woods, Kayla Perkins and Billy
Drago. I know I've forgotten a lot and I'm
sorry. Visit me:
