Now people, this is EXACTLY the kind of person we want to feature here at SplatterTribe.TV & SplatterTribe Entertainment. See, the fact is, 90% of the people responsible for putting on a show are not the Performers or Artists at all. It is all the people behind the scenes that schedule shows, get the performers there, build the stage, check the sound, change the diapers, check the lighting, make the phone calls, etc, etc. That's why SplatterTribe.TV's first 'OFFICIAL' interview is with a tour manager. But, this isn't just any tour manager. This is CHILLI................

SplatterTribe: For anyone who has no idea who you are, introduce yourself, what you do, and compare yourself to an alcoholic beverage and how many drinks of.

Chilli: ..Well my name is Shawn Chilli. I work with Dirty Penny and am having a blast!! I do the booking and contract negotiations and research for the band!! I also go on the road with them as their tour manager!! I work on the phone and computer about 10 hrs a day working with other bands and promoters. It's all pretty cool!!

(Tribe Note: Well since Chilli didn't answer the question concerning comparing himself to an alcoholic beverage and how many drinks of, I guess I'll have to answer it for him. Hmmmm, since I met him at Rocklahoma 08 and I did consume alot of free beer there, I'd have to say that Chilli is like a MGD and alot of it!!

Well shit ****UPDATE****!! Right before posting this Chilli wrote me back and said this.....Probably a Cape Cod, Because I am from MA...... Well, any case, he still looks like an MGD to me!)

SplatterTribe: Ok, here's a scenario, say you are a tour manager for a band that is gonna headline a stage in a few hours, then, all of a sudden a storm comes through and knocks the stage down. What goes through your mind and what would you tell the band?

Chilli: That's funny!! This just happened to us on our recent tour through OK. at Rocklahoma 08. I just saw the stage laying on the ground and hoped that no one got killed.. I called the boys and told them that there was no show!! I think I told them "we're fucked"!!
But it all worked out for us and we played the next night, thanks to the hard work from the guys at Roc 08!

Rocklahoma 08 South Side Stage a few HOURS before Dirty Penny's scheduled performance

SplatterTribe: You recently completed a tour with the band Dirty Penny. How did the tour go and what were some of the highlights?

Chilli: Our recent 3 month tour was awesome. 39 states, 19,000 miles and all great times!! Had some fun. Ran into a couple of tornadoes, some hurricanes, and a whole lot of fun!! AAAHHHMAZING!!

SplatterTribe: Speaking of Dirty Penny what is your tour manager pitch for the band for anyone who has no idea who they are?

Chilli: My pitch? I guess that I just tell everyone to get ready to see a great show!! The boys put in a hell of a show and we usually get asked back to play another time!!!

SplatterTribe: You've also gotten involved with some other bands recently, who are they and what's your pitch for them?

Chilli: Well I am not going to get into who I am working with until we get things in order but you will know as soon as it happens.. I will be putting them out on a US tour and they will be going all over the country! Hope to have them at the same point as Dirty Penny is!!

(Tribe Note: So no confirmation that you are working with 50 cent, nickelback or on a Dimebag (RIP) tribute? So much for scoops!?!)

Dirty Penny (l-r) Jonny, Spanky, Binge, Tyno

SplatterTribe: Give us a brief history of who Chili is and explain to us what is up with the name Chili.

Chilli: Well I Pretty much grew up on the streets of Boston until I moved out to CA. in 90. Had a couple of great relationships, Had a couple of good companies, and just been having a blast since I got to CA. I have had some ups and downs, But I just keep on rolling on down the road!! Gonna keep on going till I feel like slowing down..
And yes Chilli is my last name! They tell me it's Sicilian? Who knows, who cares, I'm just me!!

(Tribe Note: Oh, your last name is Chilli. That's funny cause my last name is ChickenNoodleSoup. People never believe me, but it's true! I heard it was Campbellsian, but who knows?)

SplatterTribe: Honestly, what was Chilli like growing up?

Chilli: I don't think there is enough paper for that question.. You could do a whole interview on that one!! Lets just say I have had more than an unusual early life!! I have been up and down and all around, If I haven't done it, I probably just haven't gotten around to it!!

SplatterTribe: If you were going to open up the Chilli Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, who would be your first 5 inductees?

Chilli: Well not in any order..
Neil Diamond
Bowie
Peter Grant
KISS
Led Zepp.

SplatterTribe: Can you make a sentence out of these five words

Splattered
Monsoon
Chilli
Crackers
cat

Chilli: The monsoon splattered crackers at Chilli's cat!! That ok?

(Tribe Note: Not only was that ok, but that was AWESOME!)

Uhm, yeah I think we have a problem

SplatterTribe: To those who

know you, what would be the most shocking cd in your cd collection and why is it there?

Chilli: Probably Barry Manilow.. I'm a sucker for love music!!

SplatterTribe: Ok, time to test your song writing abilities. I'm gonna throw out the first 2 lines to and opening verse, I want you to write the next 2.

I woke to a floor full of empty bottles
and a crumpled up newspaper that said

Chilli: Chilli's having way too much fun
And he woke up dead!

SplatterTribe: What's the story behind you being passed out in the mud at Rocklahoma 1?

Chilli: It didn't happen!! It was at Bikelahoma and the van was stuck in the mud and my buddy Dave helped pull it out. That was it, but someone made up the rest!! Crazy rumors!

(Tribe Note: Hmmm, that isn't the same story I heard at all. Somebody might have to do some investigating here....)

SplatterTribe: Any closing comments?

Chilli: Well yea. Dirty Penny is back in the studio and working on a new CD. Hoping to have it out in Feb. 09. We will be doing a 5-6 month tour in 09 and be going over to the UK. The boys will just be out there trying to get noticed and fillin' your ears with some great music!! As for me,, Who knows, I might just fade away!!!

BTW Being that Chilli's last name is Chilli and my last name is ChickenNoodleSoup I decided to throw in a Chilli recipe here at the end from the Campbell's website. The first one that popped up on their search engine was Texas-Style Chili so here it goes

Texas-Style Chili

From: Campbell's Kitchen

Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 25 minutes

Serves: 6

Ingredients:

2 lb. ground beef
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. ground cumin
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic powder OR 2 cloves garlic, minced
3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
2 cups water
1 cup Pace® Picante Sauce
Chopped onion
Shredded Cheddar cheese
Chopped fresh cilantro leaves

Directions:

In large saucepan over medium-high heat, cook beef, chili powder, cumin, salt and garlic powder until beef is browned, stirring to separate meat. Pour off fat.

Add flour and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually stir in water and picante sauce. Cook until mixture boils and thickens, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low. Cook 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve with onions, cheese, cilantro and additional picante sauce.

Now, Chilli, thanks for doin' the interview and Welcome to the Tribe! And BTW if ya don't like my man Chilli, You can Kiss My SplatterTribe Ass.......
