-I Do It Again-

I wanted to let everyone know that an old friend of the Tribe, John Phelps has just posted his NEW single 'I Do It Again' to Music Forte.

You can check it out at the following link-

www.musicforte.com/song/26158/IDoItAgainexperiental/

I spoke with him yesterday and John told me he has more songs that he is working on right now and that they are a little different from 'I Do It Again' but still contain an 'acoustic flare'. So look for more tunes in the near future.

John did a Random Q & A for our NEWS page back on February, 16 that I have reposted at the bottom of this NEWS UPDATE. So check it out to find out More about the Artist.

-Miss June, Miss June, wherefore art thou Miss June?-

That's a good question to be asking on June 7, huh? Well, here's the deal, on May 4th this fine, little lady sent SplatterTribe a message with the heading, "June Girl For SplatterTribe". Ok, Awesome, I was just getting ready start figuring out who Miss June would be, so it was perfect timing. I checked into this fine, little lady by following the links she provided and found out she was, basically..., a fine, little lady.

I saw a model with a lot of modeling experience, nice modeling pics and a little horror infusion to some of those pics. All things that would qualify this fine, little lady to be SplatterTribe's Miss June.  So I wrote her back and told her she was SplatterTribe's Miss June and gave her the details.

Her reply was, "Awesome!!! That sounds great!"

A week later on May 11, I sent out her Q & A. Six days passed and I hadn't heard from her. So on May 17, I wrote her to make sure everything was still going as planned. She wrote me back a short time later and said she would get everything to me by Saturday. That would be Saturday, May 22. That was fine because that gave me enough time to get things worked up for a June 1 posting. Well, Saturday came and went and no Q & A. I was at Rock On The Range that weekend so I wasn't concerned until I got back on Monday, the 24th.

I wrote her to see what was happening and she then wrote me on the 27th and told me that she would have everything to me by Sunday, May 30. That was pushing things but it was to late for a plan B and still make it to the June 1 deadline, so I had to take the chance and hope she got me everything by Sunday. Well Sunday didn't happen.

Then it was supposed to be Wednesday June 2nd, which was 2 days past deadline.

Then one last ditch effort I got a hold of her and she apologized and promised to get things to me by yesterday, Sunday June 6th.

Well, as I am typing this there is still no Q & A returned. I wrote her last night (June 6) and told her that I needed to know something ASAP, since we where a week into June and she wrote back and said she did not get her NEW modeling pics back yet and that she did not want to use any of her other pics she has from previous shoots. So I don't know... I got a headache. I do know that. She will not be Miss June 2010. I know that too. Will she be a future Miss? Hell, I don't know... I got a headache, I do know that. Am I confused by this whole situation? I don't know. I think so... I mean, YES. I am... I think... I got a headache. I know that. I want to bang my head into the door.  I know that. '

Actually, earlier today I did bang my head into the door. Opened it right into my forehead. Knocked me silly for a second. I mean...who opens a door right into their own forehead? Well, I do. Stuff like that happens to me because stuff like this happens to me though, you know?. Simple things made complicated. Not getting a Q & A answered and returned in a months time and opening a door and knocking yourself in the head, that is the end result of  two simple things made complicated. One begets the other, though. One is a direct result of the other, in my world... Moral of the story... Frustration causes knots on your forehead. Remember that and life will get simpler... I think. I do know I have a headache, but I don't think it is from the door... Who knows?

There WILL be a NEW Miss June this week, by any means necessary....

-Ba-ba-bamp-ba ba-ba-ba-bamp-ba I wanna be sedated-

I'm out of here. Where's the Head Ache Medication? Where's your Head Ache Medication? Got any to spare? I gotta go, I will be back soon, or something... Check out John's Q & A below if you didn't the first time and check out his new song 'I Do It Agian'. The link is at the top of this NEWS UPDATE and don't forget the NEW comments option at the bottom of this NEWS UPDATE.

-What The Hell's Goin On Around Here?-

In case you hadn't noticed, there are a few changes around here at SplatterTribe.TV. I figured it was about time to make the site a little more people friendly. A few features have been added. One being a Comments section. For now on each Interview, Feature, Review and News Update will have a comment option at the bottom of the page. As a matter of fact, you can even leave a comment or question at the end of this very News update as well! It may take a bit for people to get used to it, but I welcome everyone to leave comments. Just remember, don't say something you can't say to someone's face, you know? The Comments option will only apply to postings taking place after today. I'm not gonna go back and redo any old pages. It is just way to time consuming. So we'll see how this works...

-Waiting on a woman-

You may have noticed that there is no Miss June yet and well... that is Miss June's fault! She's waiting on some new photo's and has promised to get everything to us by the weekend! I apologize for the delay and she does too! So, if everything goes as promised & planned, Miss June will debut this weekend. If things don't go as promised & planned, I have some surprises for this month that was already planned anyway. I just got to do some catching up as usual. I guess you got to check back this weekend and see what happens...

-Some thoughts on this years Rock On The Range & Killswitch Engage.-

PT 1

The event was massive. I knew there was more people there than last year. The estimate that I heard was around 60,000. That's a lot of people.

Traffic was a pain getting into the event as I was waiting well over an hour for each day and then had to park waaaay away from the venue.

I arrived about 30 minutes before my first interview which was with Joel Stroetzel, guitarist for Killswitch Engage. I also showed up a couple of minutes late and later found out I cost fellow interviewer Brandy Graff her interview with Joel because mine ran late. OOPS... The interview with Joel was good as he spoke about the return of vocalist Howard Jones to the band and the fear of the unknown while Howard was gone. He also spoke about the fact that they really still don't know what kind of issues Howard was going through because he's a pretty private guy. It's cool to see that the band is so tight that they don't have to know what Howard's issues where. They just knew he had personal issues to tend to and he did, with their blessing. That's pretty cool if you ask me.

Joel also reluctantly spoke about the Metalcore label that Killswitch has been branded with and how if he had to define it, he would say it was basically just a fusion of American & European Metal.

I noticed the band was just doing a few select shows which included a one off oversees Festival and asked if it was profitable for a band to go oversees to play just one show. To which he replied , "Not really", then went on to tell me there where plans to add more shows (and if you look at their website now, you'll see they did indeed add several).

After playing a couple of warm up shows for Rock On The Range with Howard back into the fold and now with a new video and a extensive tour, Killswitch Engage is definitely back in full force. Their set later in the day proved that!

I took Joel as a very humble dude. He looks a lot like an old friend of mine actually. He's a little distant/private acting in person, but onstage he is a man with a reason and a cause. Offstage he was nothing but polite, onstage he was 1 of 5 gears in the Killswitch Engage machine and that machine was in full form. They drew one of the biggest, craziest side stage crowds and when they pulled out the DIO cover, it was the right band, playing the right song, at the right time. Furthermore solidifying the fact that Killswitch Engage is still a Metal Machine 10 plus years into their existence.

I'll have more on Killswitch & Joel soon. Till then, here's some pics from their set.

-I Am The Eggman-

I also journeyed once again the the Abby Road On The River festival in Louisville, KY over the weekend.

AROTR is the biggest Beatles Festival in the world. Featuring Beatles cover bands from pretty much everywhere, as well as, 60's era oriented cover bands. One difference was a band of kids between 12-15 that put on a really good show and is a pretty tight and talented band. They played music from all era's, including modern tunes, and just ripped on their instruments. The band was called The Trouble With Boys. Check them out at www.thetroublewithboys.com. The Festival also had a farewell to longtime Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson. I only went for a few hours one day, but the festival is a five day Peace, Love & Helter Skelter event. Here's a few pics from the festival. All photo's taken by my 13 year old son Andrew, BTW. There's just a few because we where there more to hang out and relax than to cover the event. Next year maybe we'll do full coverage.

-All I Got Is A Photograph...-

BTW, I get asked all the time, where all the pictures that I take are at. I know have have never set up a good slideshow for the site, but I will do that soon. I have a pretty big catalog of pics that are randomly posted on the main page, our Facebook page and our MySpace page but once I get the slideshow up and going I will start posting all pictures I take at events and photo's taken by other SplatterTribe members and friends. As I said I will get that up and going soon!

Rock On The Range, Miss June, NEW Q & ('s),

DIO, Paul Gray, The USE MY MUSIC Campaign

-Feature SplatterTribe Forum/Arcade Game Of The Week-

-Little John Archery 2-

Hello Everybody! I just got back from this years Rock On The Range. I had a pretty good time even though, I had to make the trip myself & pull the coverage off myself, but it's not the first time I've tripped by... I mean, it's not the first time I've made a trip by myself...

I watched the weather for Columbus the whole week before I went and they where calling for storms, so I got this brilliant idea of buying some cheap ponchos and giving them out with business cards in the packages. Needless to say, it was sunny and hot... So if anyone needs a poncho, you just let me know... I gotcha covered!

I know there hasn't been alot of updates recently, but it hasn't been from a lack of effort. I had several Q & A's not returned or not returned on time and it caused a lack of updates. I had Rock On The Range coming up and other things that kept me busy, but there will be all kinds of action coming up. Expect weekly updates and then some. I have several things to lay out for the site and even more Q & A's to send out.

Now, onto something that I do not understand... Why do people spend a whole show making shitty cell phone video's that you will not even be able to hear? What happened to enjoying the show? What happened to the party? You make shitty cell phone video's while looking through your shitty cell phone screen and all the while there is a freakin' Rock N Roll concert in living sound and color going on around you...

I met alot of cool people at this years ROTR... and I hope some of us stay in touch... To my media tent friends, I hope it all went well and you got the interviews you wanted.

It was truly amazing. I actually stayed at a hotel for once that I have not seen on A & E's The First 48 before... WooHoo!

I got to the ROTR venue ( Columbus Crew Stadium) late because of traffic and missed Richy Nix, who opened the Kicker stage and whom I had and interview with an hour later. So that sucked. If I am not familiar with the artist, I like to check their performance out before I interview them. Luckily I do my research though! Anyway, I will give a rundown of some of my stand-out Rock On The Range moments later in the week. In the meantime... Check out Windsor/Detroit Rapper Richy Nix HERE!

I also ran into Andy Haught of ZeroKing at Rock On The Range and he let me know that ZeroKing's NEW album is coming along smooth itself. More on that soon as well.

Two things that don't go together... $8 Beer & a Tip Jar...

Who's gonna be Miss June? Find out Soon!

BTW< There will be a NEW Splattered Q & A Tomorrow and it is not ROTR related.

An old friend of mine Mike Barnes, vocalist of Veteran, EXTREME Metal band Abominant wrote a tribute to Metal Legend Ronnie James Dio. You can check it out HERE. Me & the Abominant guys go waaaaay back and when it came to a Tribute, they where the first people to come to mind. I also chatted with Abominant bassist Mike May for a little while online the other day and he let me know that their NEW CD is in the mixing process. Expect more on these guys soon...

BTW, Rest in Peace to SlipKnot's Paul Gray. The Metal community keeps losing people...

ANYONE of ANY STYLE of MUSIC PLEASE READ!

I am going to call this the USE MY MUSIC campaign!

I am looking for music to feature in my video interviews. I don't care what style of music or genre that you play. If you would be interested in your music being featured, then listen up! I will fully credit you and your music (that is used) either at the beginning of the video, the end of the video or both, as well as, in the description for the video, anywhere it is posted. I will also put something up about you and your music right here on the SplatterTribe website. This is your chance for a free outlet for your music to be heard and credited from. I don't care if you are a new artist, a new band, a veteran artist or veteran band. There are several video projects in the planning and you could be featured on one.

Here is all you have to do!

Send me your  music in a CD format or send me free digital link to your music. Either way, I am helping in the promotion of your music...so I aint payin for it! You know what I mean? It's a fair exchange. Listen though, be sure to type or write USE MY MUSIC!

That is it! That's all you have to write or type. USE MY MUSIC! I mean, you can throw in a SplatterTribe Kicks Ass! or a I'm Splattered! or something, if you want, but a USE MY MUSIC will be sufficient!

I will let you know when your music is used and I will get you up on the Tribe site. Got it? I mean,  I'm here to promote... It's what I do and I'll do it for you!

If you have any questions or want to send a digital link email me at tribe@splattertribe.tv...

Send your music in CD format to:

SplatterTribe Entertainment

P.O. Box 6354

Elizabethtown, KY 42702

Remember ANY MUSIC STYLE OR GENRE is welcome! The magic words are USE MY MUSIC!
